Things to do in May 2025
Your curated guide to May 2025's arts and culture across Liverpool, Manchester and the rest of the North West
I’m sitting on the sun deck of a boat travelling down the Rhine as I write this, which suits the email that has just popped into my inbox announcing a celebration of European cultures in Liverpool this month.
Running from Thursday, May 8 to Wednesday, May 28, it will celebrate communities that have made the city their home for generations, including people from Albania, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Romania and Ukraine who will share their art, food, music and traditions. You can find the full programme here, but I’m hoping to find time to check out the Polish midsummer celebrations at Sefton Park Palm House on Sunday, June 15, and - if I’m suffering Rhineland withdrawal symptoms - the German Summer Fete at the German Church on Saturday, June 21.
