🎤 David Morrissey will look back at his TV and stage career during An Evening with David Morrissey at Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre on Thursday, October 24. Tickets are £30, with all proceeds going towards the Everyman 60 Appeal to raise £60,000 for talent development.
🖼️ The first major survey of acclaimed British artist Barbara Walker will lead The Whitworth’s autumn programme The exhibition will bring together paintings, prints and drawings from across her career, including her recent Turner Prize-nominated series Burden of Proof.
⛰️ A Cumbrian-inspired art exhibition featuring local artists and schoolchildren is opening in Main Street Studio (formerly the Beatrix Potter Gallery) in Hawkshead, Cumbria, on August 23. It will be open Friday to Sunday every week until September 29.
🤝 Liverpool’s Royal Court, with support from Shakespeare North Playhouse and Curious Minds, has announced a Mentor Creatives programme to help develop and nurture Global Majority creatives working right across the artistic sector. Register your interest via email by August 14.
🎚️ “A whirlwind of sweaty dance-offs and drum and bass love anthems” is the exciting description of a new contemporary take on A Midsummer Night’s dream influenced by Manchester’s rave scene. Directed by Stef O’Driscoll, it will be at the Royal Exchange from September 6 to October 12.
🎭 See inside Lancashire’s last surviving music hall theatre of its kind when the Burnley Empire opens to visitors for the first time since 1995 as part of Heritage Open Days. See inside the auditorium and meet with the people behind the restoration work, from September 8-16.
🆕 Innovative glass artist Chris Day reveals his new commission for the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool tomorrow (August 6). Now You See Me is a blown glass and mixed media modular installation inspired by Gawen Hamilton’s painting The Card Party. It will be on display until November 24.
