This is the sixth edition of my Meet a Creator series, published especially for Stored Honey’s paid subscribers, which delves deeply into the work and values of individual artists, actors, musicians, curators, producers, writers and other creatives in the North West. This time, we’re meeting songwriter and performer Eugene McGuinness, whose new album - his first after a 10-year hiatus - Eugene McGuinness Versus The Universe is being released by Liverpool-based label Mellowtone Records next month.

I was particularly intrigued by how he began expressing his creativity through making art before he was grabbed by music - and he still uses visual descriptions like the “colour of the words” when talking about his songwriting.
